A friend’s husband told me one day “Your hair looks like cotton candy,” after trying to touch my hair. I guess I should have been flattered but I was annoyed. He didn’t understand why I was irritated about him trying to touch my hair. People always see my fuzzy hair and want to touch it. I have never understood why. Its regular hair like other people have except that there is more of it and its zig-zag curls fight against my efforts to tame it.
Well I didn’t let the guy touch my hair but ducked out of the way which he seemed to find amusing and a challenge. Later when I was talking with other friends he snuck up behind me and touched my hair to my outrage! I whirled around to confront him since I knew none of my other friends would dare to touch my hair. He hid behind a mutual friend and gave me a big grin. GRR! Did I mention that I’m a germaphobe and besides finding it offensive that people want to pet my hair like I’m a sheep or a dog, having unwashed hands on my hair is just gross!
I thought the sneak attack would satisfy his curiosity. Ha! Several weeks later he had the nerve to touch my hair again, this time in front of his wife so I let her know just how much I don’t like my hair touched. Hopefully he won’t do it again.
Meanwhile I have stray thoughts of my hair looking like a ball of brown cotton candy which makes me feel even fuzzier haired.*sigh* It is not a compliment to tell me my hair looks like cotton candy.
